Today, we have been without internet most of the day, around noon the power went off for about 30 minutes and our water has been shut off indefinitely due to problems with the towns equipment.  While most of the time we feel like things aren’t that different from living in the States, today was not one of those days.  Although these things are mostly just inconveniences, the water is becoming more problematic.  It’s certainly something you take for granted when you don’t have it.  It has been unusually hot and sunny the past 3 or 4 days.  As many of you who have visited know, we rarely go 24 hours without at least a brief rainstorm here in the rain forest!  72 hours is pretty much a drought.  Although the current water problems seem to be unrelated to lack of rain, we will be happy to have the cooler temperatures that rain will bring.  We enjoy the sunny hot days here, especially if our schedules allow us to go to the pool, but I, at least, am usually happy to see the clouds and rain that follow.  Tonight we will be resetting our clocks from the power outage and using the now-available internet to investigate our malfunctioning refridgerator, which hopefully just needs to have the coils or filter cleaned.  At least the lack of water gives us a good reason not to wash the dishes!
